Pre-MCAL Fun!

This is NOT the Piggy MCAL, just something fun to crochet while we wait.
The yarn used in this Pre-MCAL is NOT included in the Piggy MCAL yardage.
This Pre-MCAL has no reflection of the Piggy MCAL, they are completely 2 separate patterns.
You ARE crocheting a little piggy.
Some pieces in this pattern can be “fiddly” because of the small rounds.

You will need…
  • Yarn Color A (the main color of your piggy)
  • Brown, Black, or another color yarn to embroider nostrils
  • Fiberfill Stuffing
  • Stitch Markers
  • 10mm Safety Eyes (or desired)
  • 3.25mm crochet hook (or desired hook for amigurumi)
  • Yarn Needle
  • Sewing pins (optional for holding pieces in place before sewing)

Stitches and Abbreviations used…
  • Ch - chain
  • Sl st - slip stitch
  • Sc - single crochet
  • Hdc - half double crochet
  • St - stitch
  • Sts - stitches
  • Rpt - repeat
  • Inc - increase, 2 sc in the same space
  • Dec - decrease or sc2tog (single crochet 2 together)

Note : All pieces are made in a continuous spiral unless otherwise stated. Most pieces begin with a magic ring, but you can also use a ch 2 to start.

All pieces are made in Yarn Color A

Assembling Mini Piggy

Step 1 ~ With your yarn needle, sew the remaining hole of the body closed.

Step 2 ~ Sew the arms to the side of the body, in a slanted position.

Step 3 ~ Sew the legs to the bottom of the body, pointing away from the face.

Step 4 ~ Sew the snout onto the head, right below the eyes, centered.

Step 5 ~ Sew the ears onto each side of the head. After sewing on the ears, fold the tips of the ears inward.

Step 6 ~ Sew the tail on the back/bottom of the body.

Step 7 ~ Embroider nostrils onto your piggy’s nose. With this piggy being so little, I found it very hard to get both nostrils to be exactly equal. I do think this adds even more character!
